Great work, but u didnt credit me :(

Just so u know, in case supersteph54 had the nerves to tell ya thathe did all the work himself (in which case tell me so i can slaughter him), it was me who replaced the Samples and i also gave ur chords some slight adjustments, but nvm.

in terms of the songs, it is simply sublime. A fantastic choice of instruments (obviously :P). The intro was instantly ear catching, with a great melody on the pizzicatos and nice backing by the piano. The chord progression was approximately unique and well balanced to suit the atmosphere of the music. Id love to hear the guitar that goes with it and hear how the song sounds like when finished.

Bassline was well balanced and provided a good sense of depth and strings were brilliant. Drums were fantastic (Supersteph54 told me to say that :P) and gave the whole thing an extra sense of rhytm and life.

Overall, great work, and hope u make it to Berklee!

Haha, he told me in the first PM's he sent me. His ilok key broke so he did it at your place. I just forgot because we exchanged a lot of PM's. Credited in the author comments :)

Thanks for the kind words. I hope so too, I'm dying to go there!

Astounding work.

A briliant intro, with a great use of panning and effects. The instrument u started off with provided a nice climax into the next part, and a great use of drums helped too. The glitchy music was quite well done too, and it actually sounded quite nice on my speakers, even though they're as broken as a year old nail which has been pounded by several huge hammers at once, but hammers aside, nice work on the intro! ;)

The melodies were great too, but they got slightly annoying due to the fact that they didnt have as much variety as i would've liked. Dont get me wrong, its a great piece of music, and the melodies are awesomely great, but it got slightly repetitive in some parts. What i particularly liked was the piano melody towards the end, as it set off the atmosphere u needed brilliantly, and provided a fantastic change from the mood it started off with. The other instruments were well used too, but they sometimes got a bit too crowded together in my opinion, and it was a bit difficult to actually decipher the separate melodies in some parts.

Bass was excellent, with just the right amount of background for the melodies. I've got nothing to complain about this part as it was waht really set this piece off well, and the excellent use of chord progressions helped to make this song more interesting.

Transitions werent bad, although they werent ur best either. For my part, i liked the transitions you used in your earlier songs during the NGADM better, but these were decent too. They didnt break up the flow of the music, although they were slightly abrupt in some parts. Perphaps you could smoothen them more somehow??

Drums were as great as they could get, with a nice flow of variety and a hefty degree of originality throughout the drum line. Nice work on this part, especially as you managed to balance the drums with the melodies so that they werent too dominant but could still cause a graet deal of effect. What slightly bothered me about the drums was the fact that they stayed the same towards the end, and cut off from the overall degree of great originality.

As mentioned above, originality needed some more work in some parts as both drums and melodies took a bit too long to change, With a bit more variety, this song would be much better.

Outro was superb, with a brilliant closure to waht was a greatly interesting piece. The fantastic use of the piano to end it really closed it off well and provided something new to end the song with. Nice work.

OVerall, a decent piece, well-paced an worked out, with a nice mix on instruments and a great deal of interesting melodies.

This is simply legendary, something to be noted in the Guinness book of records. Its simply amazing! Pristine beyond perfection. Intro was instantly prefect, with a cool accelarando and brilliant mix of instruments and drums. Depth was great too in this part. The bass was brilliant and well placed with just the right amount of volume. The effects you used to climax are great too, and the main melody simply continued the awesomeness. Harmonizing left my mouth wide open and the smooth transitions helped in keeping it open. Overall, there's nothing i can say except simply superb!!!!

SCORE : 10/10

NGADM 2009 Group 2 Round 2

Amazing. This is as close to utter relaxation as someone can get. The intro was particularly good, with a brilliant chord progression. THe lack of a climax was somewhat disappointing however, with the drums just suddenly erupting into the music. Speaking of the drums, they werent exactly matching and could've been less loud in my opinion. The melodic rythm was also slightly off with the instruments playing the notes just slightly after each other. However, after the initial drum part the relaxition reigned supreme and the rest of the song was brilliant. A fantastic outro close off everything fantastically. Nice work!

Hm...Not bad. A difficult genre to work with, but i suppose you did a pretty decent job. In terms of instruments, guitar work was overally great, although some parts where discordant. The vocal part had especially good guitar work with an interesting bass line providing an extra sense of depth to the whole thing. The vocals were pretty well recorded, although they lacked variation. Intro and outro were basically the same, although i must say that they provided a nice climax and anticlimax respectively. Overall, not much to complain except the fact that it was way too short, maybe a couple more verses and a bridge? Also, the chorus could use some drums.

SCORE : 7.5/10

NGADM 2009 Group 2 Round 2

Brilliant, simply brilliant. As yet, after hearing it through three times, i cant find too much that's actually wrong with it. It has a superb melody for a Heavy Metal song, with great effects and guitar work. Mastering could use a bit more work, but other then that simply great. The filter you put on the guitar was great too and the bridge was amazing. The loudness however put me off a bit, i mean it sounds good on my com speakers but other then that not so much as my headphones tended to cut off its quality, maybe you could fix that a bit. The calm outro was simply brilliant and cut off the whole song simply fantastically. If all Heavy Metals song on Ng were this good, id find myself with a lot more of them on my favs list. Nice work.

SCORE : 9.5/10

Haha thanks for the review my friend; it would be nice if the scoring could go in-betweensies, but alas, it cannot. =`( I hope I can continue to receive more "brilliant" from you; the next song I submit won't be a metal song, but I hope it still brings something to the table for ya! =)

Incredible, simply incredible.

I cant say i found a lot that sounded wrong, even from the point of view of anyone who hates this style, this is simply something you can never ignore.

A brilliant, atmospheric intro, with amazing glitchy melodies. The build up into the main melody was simple sublime, nothing wrong whatsoever with the transition. U also looked like u put extra focus into building the atmosphere, and it paid off, as the depth and background on this was simply fantastic. The chords in the background were simple amazing, harmonized beyond perfection.

The gltichy melodies, as ive said before, caught my attention and didnt let go till the song had looped five times. Simply superb, varied, interesting, harmonized, everything that makes them perfect really. Drums too, were focused and varied, providing a steady rhtym which paid off in terms of both overall originality and background blend.

Outro was great too, closing the song off fantastically. Theres only one thing i can find that bothers me (arent i picky :p) and that was that the song felt like it was building up towards a superb climax but this never actually came! Still, overall, this is a great song and fully deserves all the high points it can get.

Intro/Outro = 1/1
Blend = 2/2
Mel./Transition = 2.5/3
Drums + Bass = 2/2
Originality = 2/2

P.S. Note that this is your judging review from Round 3 of the NGADM. Once again, its always nice to have new reviews no?

SessileNomad responds:

aye it is but once again i felt like i was having some deja vu when i read that, then it hit me that you were posting reviews again xD

Interesting piece.

To start off, introduction seems a bit random and unorganized for my tastes, even for a genre such as this one, you should stick with some kind of structure and not introduce notes all over the place.

Still, the main melody with the guitar was pretty cool but the instrument with the whiny tone didnt exactly mix well with the rest. Melody also tended to get slightly repetitive too.

In terms of blend and background, sadly lacking and in some places even discordant. What i really liked was the originality with the voice. The words were well chosen and the pitch bending on the second one was awesome. Drums were also really cool on this, and mixed well with anything that was playing above them. However, they seemed to be slightly repetitive in some parts. They could do with alterations in some parts where the melody gets different and faster.

Bass was also lacking and even though this genre isnt particularly relient on bass, something else in the background could most definetely help. Overall, a nice and varied use of FX helped too, melodies responded well to both change in tempo and mood. Originality was pretty high but more overall variety could have been used. Outro was great too, with a nice but slightly abrupt fade out.

Intro/Outro = 0.5/1
Blend = 1/2
Mel./Transition = 2.5/3
Drums + Bass = 1.5/2
Originality = 2/2

Quarl responds:

i just realized you said that this genre isn't reliant on bass... but it's called drum and bass... you don't know what your talking about do you?

Hm...

Well, not a bad job. Drums arent the best though, and it could've used more of a blend as right now it sounds the same as a midi file would sound. You could use more powerful drums as those always help. And a nice background melody wouldnt hurt either. Still, overall, not a bad job but could use more work.

YouriX responds:

Uuh i think you should F5 your browser. There is no way that a midi can sound like that no pun intendid :P

Not bad...

Nice work. What i didnt like was the utter lack of humanization. Now i know its techno and its electronic music but humanization always helps in the fact that the user doesnt get bored listening to the same old note velocities and lengths. Well, it had a decent blend and background. Drums were slightly repetitive however. And the bass is also severely generic.
